Has anyone seen anything like this when booting Linux on a Pocket 3?
Yes, but this is Ubuntu 21.10 and it is EOL. It is also not made by GPD (they just provide a link to the iso). This https://github.com/wimpysworld/umpc-ubuntu is the github with the relevant scripts, mostly made by one person (he also has an interesting youtube channel).

What would be a very small device other than a phone that I could use to have linux on and access the net?
Works with Linux, there are pre-made Ubuntu MATE images or you can see the changes required at: https://github.com/wimpysworld/umpc-ubuntu

Pocket computers and Linux
If you look at the configuration files ( https://github.com/wimpysworld/umpc-ubuntu/ ), you might find it isn't too difficult to transplant to other distributions.

What are Linux options for GPD Pocket 1?
Here's a gitlab with all the scripts you might need. File 80 has the trackpoint config. You may need to reverse install the install script to figure out where it needs to go. Note that if the screen rotation is already correct running the install script will break it.

Possible to Install Stock Manjaro on Pocket 1?
I believe the screen fix can be found in this repository. It's meant for ubuntu, so I usually don't run the script, but go through file by file and change what's needed.
- So I'm having an issue here with my GPD Pocket booting sideways and my Ubuntu Budgie Linux login screen is this way too... Rather annoying and I'm hoping someone can help me. 🙂

Void Linux - getting there!
I'm using https://github.com/wimpysworld/umpc-ubuntu/blob/master/data/99-gpd-pocket3-touch.rules for udev rules, and compiled https://github.com/wimpysworld/umpc-ubuntu/blob/master/data/umpc-display-rotate.c started with i3 and works fine!

My GPD Pocket 3 arrived yesterday!
The sound is working. I used the scripts from here: https://github.com/wimpysworld/umpc-ubuntu

Rolling release between Arch and Rhino(Ubuntu based)
Looks like it's not a rolling release. It's a stable ubuntu with unstable packages (from the pacstall repo)

Yep.. I'm dumping APT for Nala.
If you use Pacstall, you can run pacstall -I nala-deb

Name a program that doesn't get enough love!
Lastly, deb-get + pacstall + bauh. All of these combined covers 99% of my software needs, much less need to find and install PPAs and .deb manually. Still not as convenient as AUR, but much better than it was before. Hopefully, eventually everything is on Flatpak, snap, or AppImage so I could just use Bauh for most apps, but for now, I'm glad that these tools exists.
