Are you using the new v2 Tuya integration? If so, not all devices are supported yet. And even the existing built in integration doesn't support all devices. Both of those links have nested links that should tell you whether or not that particular device is supported in HA.

Looking for an app for setting exact lighting kelvin temperature
Interesting! I'm already looking at $30 g125 bulbs, when you say "a LOT more," how much are we talking? Excellent point re: calibration. Your API comment goes over my head but this turned up in a quick search, and honestly every time I end up on GitHUB I never know how to use any of that stuff but maybe this is the time to push myself to learn.
