  • Zotra is now on MELPA: The power of Zotero in Emacs

This is done using Zotero translators, so it basically has the full power of Zotero. There is no need for the Zotero client, but it needs to connect to either Zotero translation server or zotra-cli as the backend.

Run a local Zotero Translator Server. I can then use the Zotero API to add items to my Zotero library library already sorted and tagged.
  • [Update] Zotra: using the power of Zotero in Emacs to manage citations and pdf files

Yeah, Zotero and Zotero translation server are not identical. For example, see https://github.com/zotero/translation-server/pull/59 If there are places where Zotero works and Zotero translation server doesn't, it would be best to open an issue in the translation server repo and take it from there. If this is an issue that's easy to solve, but the translation server doesn't want to implement it, I might be able to add it to zotra-cli.
  • Download PDF from url

To do so, I am using this package to get Zotero's capability of finding metadata about any paper. I also made a small modification to the source code to enable attachments to outputs. Attachments are basically the URLs to the papers that are freely available online. My problem now is use this URL to actually download the paper.

You're welcome :) You're right, the translation server can't handle urls to pdf files. I'm not sure if this is being worked on: https://github.com/zotero/translation-server/issues/70

I use org and org-tangle to manage all my bibtex pieces and corresponding notes. I highly rely on biblio.el to search (title or author&date), download (if it is available on arxiv) and insert bibtex citation directly into my literature dot org. I just don't want to leave my emacs!
  • New package consult-bibtex

So that basically pipes your search string to those services, via biblio, and then you can import those results?

What are some alternatives?
