BTW also keycloak and other similar products offer the oauth-proxy capability, I even used the original oauth2-proxy https://github.com/oauth2-proxy/oauth2-proxy for a while, but it was getting too difficult to maintain for me. I used for a while https://github.com/thomseddon/traefik-forward-auth that was a smart hack configuring a single upstream provider, but it look abandoned. So I was considering authentik but apparently it's just oauth2-proxy embedded in it, at that point why not use oauth2-proxy directly.

It seems there are some more recently updated forks.

Traefik Forward Auth

Hm, interesting. I have worked with traefik-forward-auth before, but I didn't know there is a fork. Are you using the fork? Would you happen to know if this issue from the original project still exists or if it's fixed in the fork?

Traefik ingress + forward auth middleware + traefik-forward-auth does the trick.

I use NGINX proxy with Authelia in between. Authelia blocks and blacklists faulty logins.

https://github.com/lldap/lldap is a very simple and lightweight LDAP solution. Works flawless with https://www.authelia.com/

Ah yeah, so I guess it's been a while since I tried and I forgot where I got stuck last time. Authelia's config.yml is absolutely massive and I'm not sure which section of their guide I should be following. In The Docker Compose section, there's "Unbundled", "Lite", and "Local". I think I want to be running the "lite" bundle, but their example compose file has a ton of Traefik stuff in it. I know I wouldn't keep the Traefik services, but do I need either secure or public?

Authelia supports SSO. If you are behind a reverse proxy it’s quite straightforward to integrate.

This should probably also be mentioned in the documentation so maybe consider mentioning this on their discussion page.
