Then you're using it wrong. GPG isn't adding anything to this that SHA256 wouldn't, and you're just relying on the SSL certificate.

Look at your list of CAs sometime. There's multiple national organizations there. Controlled by a government.

And any of those will be deemed as valid, so if you go to https://www.torproject.org/download/ and it's signed by a Chinese CA for some reason, to your browser that's perfectly fine.

Firefox has been my go-to browser for years and I will definitely keep using it on my desktop, although I observed that it used too much battery on my M1 Macbook Pro, so I decided to give ungoogled Chromium a try, and additionally, followed these Chromium hardening steps (please keep in mind, I do not know for sure if these are actually good and valid steps to follow). I am pretty happy with it right now! It barely uses any battery, and is just as fast or maybe even faster than Firefox was for me.

I recommend you to use Ungoogled Chromium and setup it with dreammjow chromium settings, u can also use these filters with UBO.
