Is there a way to see the CLI options that the UI uses to do a complex launch?
Do you mean this is a file that you mount? If not, RetroArch can play CD formats if these are files, such as CHD (I convert every CD format like .iso and .cue to .chd files; look at my other program tochd ). So if you don't access the real CD/DVD drive of your PC, then you probably don't need to mount any CD format to play them with RetroArch.

First time Arch user need help converting Zip to CHD natively
The Discover app uses a different way of installing programs and I do not have the program there. It was not designed to work on Steam Deck, because it expects some programs to be installed (7z and chdman). There is a way of downloading the program directly, but you need to have 7z and chdman and use the options to point to it. You could download from https://github.com/thingsiplay/tochd/releases the "tochd-0.9-bin.7z" and unpack and run it without installing. You would need to point to the programs like this: ./tochd --7z "path/to/7z" --chdman "path/to/chdman" . (the last dot in the command means current directory, in which the program will search all files in current directory to convert).

I created my first Archlinux package - tochd (a Python script)
Hi everyone. Today I created my first Archlinux package using makepkg. I hope it went all right. Might someone want have a look at the PKGBUILD file? The program itself is not very complicated to install, just a single Python script to copy into a directory.

CHDMAN convert process
For Linux I have a Python script to convert to CHD format. It does some smart things that aren't handled by simple scripts. Just in case you are interested to check it out: https://github.com/thingsiplay/tochd

RG405m ISO vs CHD performance
"-c cdzl, cdfl" restricting chdman to zlib and flac for lower end devices. For PSP I typically use maxcso. I don't emulate PSP on performance constrained devices, but you can poke through the command line args to restrict the compression algo there if you want -- including only utilizing compression when the ratio meets a defined threshold.

PPSSPP core and playing .zip files
AFAIK the best compression you can use for PSP right now is the .cso format, I personally use maxcso for this, works like a charm: https://github.com/unknownbrackets/maxcso#readme
