thunderbird-conversations VS LookOut-fix-version

You may have to wait longer for the Conversations extension to support Thunderbird 115. The extension developer has said that it needs significant changes and that he doesn't have enough spare time. The latest update on support for Thunderbird 115 [1] says that there's more work to be done and some dependencies on Thunderbird fixes.

4. Conversations I have used for a very short time that extension many years ago. It seemed to work correctly (at the time), but I didn't like the feel of it, so I removed it. When you installed the extension, did you follow all recommendations? I am assuming you have installed this extension. Read carefully the Wiki to make sure you have installed it correctly. Check especially the addons that it replaces as well as the incompatible add-ons. From memory, when you install that extension, it tells you exactly what settings you have to select so it works correctly. if you haven't followed these instructions, then Thunderbird Conversations might be the culprit. Apart from that, since I don't currently use this extension, I won't say more about it.

2- With the extension Thunderbird Conversations Basically, if you follow the installation and configuration instructions found here and also the first time you install the extension, then it will show complete threads with both the messages you receive and those you sent. Even though it does exactly what it says, I didn't like the experience because I don't easily know where are really stored each message and there is also a difference where are showed messages when you start the discussion vs when someone else starts it. Besides, I am generally not a fan of the say a full discussion is shown in a message viewed in Conversation mode (and I don't like the way GMail shows it either).

Thunderbird is a fantastic email client, and I'm glad that it has reached a sustainable point. I have worked with plugins just after the switch to mailextensions, and it's great to see that the community has been considered with the changes they have had to make.

However, I am disappointed that TNEF decoding has been removed from the roadmap. The plugin I have been maintaining for this purpose is very old and in desperate need of a rewrite. Honestly, it just needs to be in the core of the client at this point. It is unclear why Microsoft has not completely removed their proprietary mail format, and why admins keep switching it on for outside users is anyone's guess.
