Should I actually start playing again?
3. Get a bot detector. These can run alongside tf2 and automatically send chat alerts and start vote kicks on known bots and cheaters, while letting you mark new accounts as bots too. The most popular one is Pazer's bot detector, for windows users. If you are a linux user, there are other less popular ones that still achieve basically the same thing with possibly some very minor drawbacks, like Googe14's bot kicker, which I use myself.

Anyone who knows programming, could you write a script that autoreports m4gic bots?
Pazer's bot detector automatically votekicks bots if they join, reports don't do much though

Let's hope it doesn't end up like this
here is the list of rules it uses https://github.com/PazerOP/tf2_bot_detector/blob/master/staging/cfg/rules.official.json

Public server cheating/botting Megathread - January 2022
I've been in a similar situation and I understand where you're coming from. It's a similar situation in dustbowl servers. I've found Pazer's Bot Detector to be a huge help even if it doesn't solve the problem. It's honestly just as useful for keeping track of human cheaters as it is for getting rid of bots. You can manually mark cheaters while using it, and after a while you'll be able to get a idea of whether a cheater is alone or in a group and to act accordingly. If I see more than two cheaters on a team I usually just re-queue, but if it's a group of two or less you can get them kicked a lot of the time, especially if they're being blatant about it. It's pretty insane that we have to resort to this, but it's better than wasting time playing with, and against, these people, and it gives some peace of mind because you're much less likely to try inadvertently kicking someone who's part of a cheating six stack while being harassed by his friends.

Is it possible to play without hackers or bots
4) Get a bot detector. There's a free open-source program on Github, you can get it here. If you launch TF2 through it then it will automatically call a vote against any known cheater (as well as vote in favour of cheaters) and tell the other team of any known cheaters on their team. You can customise it, and also add new cheaters onto it if it didn't detect them. It can make the whole "a bot just joined my server" thing completely automatic so you don't need to give it a lick of thought.

Can Sniper bots steal names? This is my username.
I use pazer’s tf2 bot detector. It has a database of known bots, and will automatically call bots out in chat and automatically kick bots without any input from me. It’s super helpful, makes kicking name stealing bots an absolute breeze.

How to spot an obvious hacker 101
This is already a thing, they use characters that don't render on default fonts. I recommend getting this it will at least put a box where the special characters are when a vote is called or in the vote kick menu. https://github.com/andy013/votehud_custom_font
