Best way to "watch" files with no daemon running?
If you want to have some long running program that constantly watches the file then there is the inotify crate, but I don't know if there is an async equivalent
What are some alternatives?

winapi-rs - Rust bindings to Windows API
fswatch - A cross-platform file change monitor with multiple backends: Apple OS X File System Events, *BSD kqueue, Solaris/Illumos File Events Notification, Linux inotify, Microsoft Windows and a stat()-based backend.
nix - Rust friendly bindings to *nix APIs
alacritty - A cross-platform, OpenGL terminal emulator.
rust-fuse - Rust library for filesystems in userspace (FUSE)
