subliminal VS mpv-scripts

I downloaded a lua script to be run by mpv player on MacOS. The script uses the subliminal module to download subtitles.

It requires a python package called subliminal

There's a python "app" called subliminal (with a simple CLI) that handles the whole enchilada for you - identify the movie, contact several subtitle dbs to download the appropriate subtitles.

Not sure how up-to-date it is kept, but for me it works reasonably well, except for obscure films.

Edit: Google points me to this issue suggesting that it’s not implemented - however one of the developers says it is … and yet hasn’t closed the issue.

Hello. I was using SubsMarine but it doesn't work anymore on M1. Subliminal seems dead now, my version does not download anything. Can you suggest me an app to download subtitles for many files, supporting several sources ? (Addic7ed, opensubtitles, podnapisi at least) ? I don't care if it's graphical or command line.

I created a batch file that adds srt subs to your movies in one click. It requires that you have the following installed: MKVToolNix Subliminal ffsubsync

acompressor.lua: compressor. blur-edges.lua: fills the black bars on the side of a video with a blurred copy of its edges. createchapter.lua: self-explanatory. crop.lua: crop video in a visual manner. encode.lua: make an extract of the video currently playing using ffmpeg. reload.lua: reloads videos if an online video stops caching. seek-to.lua: go to timestamp. simplehistory.lua: stores whatever you open in a history file. skiptosilence.lua: skip past "previously on...". smartcopypaste_ii.lua: copy/paste links sponsorblock.lua: skip sponsors in yt videos. streamsave.lua: save looped section to a separate file. subit.lua: download subtitles to playing video. uosc.lua: feature-rich minimalist proximity-based ui (my fav!). webm.lua: similar to encode.lua but with more features and no external dependencies. webtorrent-mpv-hook: enable mpv to stream torrents using webtorrent. youtube-quality.lua: change quality of currently playing yt video.

long answer: no but there is a script called zones that you can use that divides the mpv window to 9 different sections and you can bind different commands to a certain section of the screen using mouse keys (mostly scroll up and down)

subit - easily download missing subtitles.

I use https://github.com/wiiaboo/mpv-scripts/blob/master/subit.lua for the longest time. It works when configured properly.
