Chrome is dropping support for MacOS 10.13 and 10.14 this summer! That is too soon! I guess people will have to switch to Firefox or chromium-legacy in order to use a recent browser

I don't use GitHub much so I don't know, so how can you tell how many people are working on a project, like for Chromium Legacy: https://github.com/blueboxd/chromium-legacy2 projects | /r/MacOS | 28 Apr 2023
I have a question, then how come projects like Chromium Legacy are still working with so many past MacOS versions: https://github.com/blueboxd/chromium-legacy

I haven't tried it myself, but a couple of minutes ago I found out about Chromium-legacy. The description says it's equivalent to current upstream versions of Chromium except for some limitations caused by older OS versions. Viewing DRM-protected content (e.g. Netflix) requires separately installing the Widevine library.

https://github.com/blueboxd/chromium-legacy exists for macOS, so it would only be fair if there was something similar for old versions of Windows. :)11 projects | news.ycombinator.com | 4 Apr 2023
There are up-to-date builds of Chromium for 10.9.5. (Actually, they work as far back as 10.7, Lion)
I daily-drive this browser on a 10.9 Mavericks Hackintosh. It's great.

> Browser support (including Safari support) is the main reason why expensive desktop Macs eventually become paperweights.
A buddy gave me his 2011 MBP to upgrade for him, so I stuck in an SSD and 8gb RAM, and with the help of Opencore Legacy Patcher, I got Ventura running great on it! If you have an old Mac, I would really recommend doing this, they still have a lot of life left in them!

Give Chromium Legacy a try. I’m using it on a 10.9.5 machine.

Thanks, note that it's all very much built on the shoulders of giants!
For example, the "Chromium Legacy Downloader" just adds automatic updates (and some tweaks) to to an existing project. Chromium Legacy itself—a branch of Chromium kept in sync with upstream which retains support for legacy OS X—is maintained by a Japanese developer I don't know much about. https://github.com/blueboxd/chromium-legacy.
Other downloads, like the Dolphin emulator, are basically just source recompiles, which use MacPorts tooling to support legacy OS X. MacPorts has incredible legacy support.

You don't have to give this up on Mavericks! :D
Mavericks also has something better than dark mode—a visual design that uses the full tonal range of lights and darks together to have higher contrast. A lot of the rest is only useful if you're in Apple's ecosystem, which I'm mostly not.
