I do something similar for my sssv decomp - you might want to look at on_pull_request_target so forks can run the action (without getting the secret) - otherwise anyone else submitting a PR will have the action fail). Just to clarify I'm using Bsnes HD from here. And the widescreen patch from here.

Just to add to this, there's also a Super Mario World widescreen hack out there.

Also, I read about a widescreen fix github.com/VitorVilela7/wide-snes bsnes doesn't run smoothly for me though. But with Snes9x only a black screen comes up. Did any of you get this to work?
