speedtest-cli VS speedtest-to-influxdb

That's a community cli client https://github.com/sivel/speedtest-cli rather than the official cli client https://www.speedtest.net/apps/cli

If you read the docs for Speedtest-CLI you will see that the program timeouts after 10 seconds. Try using this for default timeout of 1 minute and also redirect errors to the same file. speedtest-cli --timeout 60 >> /bin/speedtestoutput.txt 2>&1

Already exists https://github.com/sivel/speedtest-cli/, mature, stable, packaged in major distributions.

You could use this to periodicially run a speedtest and ingest the result into influx. https://github.com/breadlysm/SpeedFlux

I'm using speedtest-cli from speedtest.net. There's a py script here - https://github.com/breadlysm/speedtest-to-influxdb - which feeds this into influxdb, which in turn is displayed on my grafana dashboard. I also have a feed for my pfsense firewall to track WAN usage.
