5. I wish Simplenote's tagging system were better (more like TaskPaper)

- I wish it were simple to add (markdown) images like Github.

- Also Simplenote added some features that get in the way (I just want to type `[`, but Simple note opens this inter-note linking interface)

- Notational Velocity supported rich text, but I just wanted everything in plaintext, especially when pasting information into a note.

Note nvUltra, the successor to this program, has been in development/private beta for several years[1,2].

I've been meaning to make my own web-based version of Notational Velocity that adds a few novel features of my own. (Plus inspiration from apps like TaskPaper and Drafts)

I'm still happy with Apple Notes for its integration with all of Apple Apps, easy sharing with family members, etc. I have tamed it more as an ephemeral and quick Notes App. The notes that starts there are usually transferred to a more permanent and organized Plain-Text setup[1] (currently guardian-ed by Obsidian).

If I had to replace Apple Notes, I'd look at either one of these;

In the past I used the beautiful Zoho Notes. It's good but I experienced sync issues sometimes. OneNote is good but I hate the UI. StandardNotes is nice, but very expensive once you want the paid features. SimpleNote OK too, but too basic imo.

I've used Simplenote for years. Clutter free, distraction free, and actually free - it works in a browser and my phone so I can write on any device, anywhere, online or when I'm intentionally disconnected.

I think Simplenote could be what you’re looking for.

I wanted to apply this theme (https://github.com/Zettlr/Zettlr/discussion/3211) to my Zettlr, as these preset themes are kind of an eye sore. But, while it changes the toolbar and surrounding menus, it does not apply any changes whatsoever to the editor.

I can't recommend the Zettlekasten Method enough: https://zettelkasten.de/introduction/

You can do it with index cards or you can use software to practice the method and grow your note collection. I now prefer Zettlr (https://www.zettlr.com) after using Joplin (https://joplinapp.org), which are both FOSS.

One of the core strategies of the Zettlekasten Method is to link notes to each other. That's how knowledge grows: connections and synthesis (internalization/application of the connections)

I discovered recently [logseq](https://logseq.com/) and it's beautiful. I use quite a lot Zettlr for taking notes on concepts and ideas but I have to say that logseq has become my starting point for daily, short, notes and tasks. I need to work on an integration with Zettlr however, I like the possibility of the latter to organize and connect the texts, especially convenient when writing essays.
