So I tried it myself and found out it no longer works. Probably because Signal changed something... I found this project that should work: https://github.com/GjjvdBurg/signal2html. Although this might be little too hard to use

Ideas to reduce Signal backup size.
I hacked together this script some time ago and was able to shrink my backup size significantly (from 4 gb to 800 mb). It's a somewhat convoluted process, though.
