Moving SIGNAL from iPhone to Android: How to export all chats with media?
question is in the title. I already found out that it is close to impossible to export all chats from iPhone to Android. Could it be possible via https://github.com/carderne/signal-export? Is there any other possibility (even third party app)?

Using iOS Signal and have a desktop computer? Install and run Signal Desktop - this will let you back up messages from that point forward
This export utility worked for me on Linux (it's also supposed to work with Windows and MacOS but I haven't tested it).

Does anyone know how to export from the old (pre-2018) Signal Chrome extension?
I found a wonderful repository ( https://github.com/carderne/signal-export/ ) that supports exporting from modern desktop! But, I have some old old old laptops I'd like to repurpose, but I don't want to lose my old old old messages.

Extracting WhatsApp Messages from an iOS Backup
This [0] (I made this) will let you get your messages out into Markdown/HTML + attachments, but I'm pretty sure there's no way to get them back onto your phone yet.

Open source chat app with plain text chat logs
I've used "WHAGODRI" from https://github.com/B16f00t/whapa to download my backup from Google Drive. However, the message database (msgstore.db.crypt15) requires a key file to decrypt. My phone is not rooted, so I am unable to access the decryption key. I have tried https://github.com/YuvrajRaghuvanshiS/WhatsApp-Key-Database-Extractor but I did not succeed in retrieving the key.

How can I see all my messages on my PC going back years? Is there a specific database tool?
This method is a bit dangerous, since it uses ADB and may brick your phone and also corrupt your history. I made sure I had all my chats backed up before try it for the first time. It worked, then I used again yesterday and it worked again. Cant be sure that it will work on your device, but if you want to give it a try, here is what I did Backuping whatsapp chat history without root: I used these tools back in september 2022 and worked just fine. To extract the key and uncrypted messages database: https://github.com/YuvrajRaghuvanshiS/WhatsApp-Key-Database-Extractor To decrypt the backup databases using the key you extracted and also to visualize the databases: https://github.com/andreas-mausch/whatsapp-viewer/releases To fix the SQL tables in order to visualize in the WhatsApp-Viewer: https://github.com/andreas-mausch/whatsapp-viewer/issues/151#issuecomment-1229244368

when i export a chat to my mail it never saves the entire chat
The only way I know to bypass this limitation (and I searched a lot because this was very important to me) is by extracting the WhatsApp key to decrypt the daily backups and export the chats from there (there is an app called WhatsApp viewer that lets you read the SQL database and export to html/txt). The way that worked for me to extract the key at Android was using this repository at GitHub https://github.com/YuvrajRaghuvanshiS/WhatsApp-Key-Database-Extractor There is also another way via rooting your android and extracting the key from the internal memory of the app. I couldn't root my phone, so I haven't tried this one.

Backup of Whatsapp NOT THE "BACK UP TO GOOGLE DRIVE AUTO UPLOAD"
There is a way to get your key from a non-rooted device that should still work: https://github.com/YuvrajRaghuvanshiS/WhatsApp-Key-Database-Extractor

Export a specific WhatsApp conversation.
You don't say what OS you have on the phone. For Android you need to extract the db/key, one of the few options that work is https://github.com/YuvrajRaghuvanshiS/WhatsApp-Key-Database-Extractor and then read it in https://github.com/andreas-mausch/whatsapp-viewer .

Extracting WhatsApp Messages from an iOS Backup
Backuptrans is the best solution I’ve found for this, done 3 successful migrations with it.
You’ll need to also use https://github.com/YuvrajRaghuvanshiS/WhatsApp-Key-Database-... which makes the process easier than it used to be - no need for an android emulator or second rooted phone

Linux Android Backup, an open-source & cross-platform tool to back up Android devices
It's https://github.com/YuvrajRaghuvanshiS/WhatsApp-Key-Database-Extractor . It might still work for you, actually I'm curious. I see there were some changes last year in the project, although my problem wasn't really with any of the adb interaction or that python script, it was whatsapp itself getting frozen on the device. It was installing fine, starting up and getting stuck somewhere (don't know if it was due to some local stuff in the db or from what it was getting from the server about my account). Really scary stuff, because all your data is in their hands, I mean you have the encrypted backups but they can become useless in an instant.
