shortscale-rs VS shortscale

Some readers may recognize shortscale from earlier explorations in JavaScript, Rust, and Go.

In this case, I was also lucky that the Go strings.Builder standard library package is very similar to the writer pattern I ended up using for Rust.

This article demonstrates how to build a worker which calls a wasm function written in Rust.

The measured performance was, well, an eye-opener! ~4459ns per shortscale_vec_concat call in Rust, compared to ~1342ns for the equivalent in Node.js.

The shortscale-rs library tries to replicate shortscale, a small JavaScript module with just one function which converts numbers to English words.

I published shortscale v1 as CommonJS. For v2 and later the module is only available as ESM. This means that later releases can no longer be loaded using Node.js require().
