XFCE 4.18 Released
> Custom Actions
> It is now possible to arrange custom actions in cascading submenus. Just enter the same submenu name for a custom action in order to place it into the same menu. If you require multiple menu levels, you can achieve that by using '/' in the path of the 'Submenu' entry.*
In 2012 KDE AppMenu Runner was presented as a "plugin which allows to browse, search and select the menubar of the active application".[0]
In 2019 I requested to somehow implement a feature, similar to Blender's "Menu Search"/"Operator Search"[1], into Olive Video Editor.[2]
After it "Action Search" was implemented into Olive Video Editor ('/') shortcut, its code was reused for "Action Search" in Scribus ('Ctrl+/') and then converted into Qt5-plugin.[3,4]
Year later, this Qt5-plugin code reused in for implementing global "Action Search" in helloSystem FreeBSD distribution.[5]
Then "Search and Run a Command" ('/') was added into GIMP.[6]
Guess, GIMP's implementation may be used for other GTK-based apps too (especially Inkscape, which still has no such feature).

KDE is a mess
I tried everything possible, from setting alt + F1 as shortcut in the application launcher settings to editing config files. The only solution is to download a 3rd party tool from github name ksuperkey and set the shortcut there.

binding only mod key
try this, maybe it still works

XFCE 4.18 Released
ksuperkey[0] addresses this, though it is unfortunately not widely packaged so you likely have to compile it. I haven't used it in a while, but it worked well when last I did.

How to open the app launcher with just the meta key?
There's a program called ksuperkey which is what I use, the first time you run it it's funky but if you re-log it works like a charm. It basically just sends an ALT+F1 whenever you hit Meta, so all you have to do is set your keybind to that and it should work

Super for menu and Super + Space for IME?
By default you cannot use the super key alone and then combine it with other keys toform new shortcuts. The super key will always "overlap" with the other keys. Sowhenever you press the super key, it will open the shortcut defined for it, in your casethe whisker menu. I don't know why this happens. But to solve this you needksuperkey: ksuperkey - github

Wayland capable Ksuperkey replacement?
New to Sway and I'm quite fond of it so far but what I haven't found a wayland replacement for is ksuperkey. I would like to launch wofi with $mod/meta alone and nothing else. Is this currently not possible?

Super key, keyboard shortcuts aren't working
You can use the -t flag to change how long it takes to timeout (I believe it's in ms) and you can use -e to change what it maps to. You can check the full instructions on the github page.
- I can no longer bind the meta key as a shortcut for an app?
