What files can I install on Desktop mode? (.DEB, .RPM, etc)
Reason is, that valves os is based on arch linux, but they locked all the system partitions down to read only. You can unlock them or use tools to lay a fake redirect layer over them (see: https://github.com/ValShaped/rwfus), but thats advanced users stuff.

My full desktop mode rice. Replaced KDE with i3 and mapped everything I need to use it to controls with steam input.
I'm using rwfus to create an overlayfs over the rootfs so that packages and other changes persist across updates

Internal storage storage full
I believe there is an option to send shader cache to the SD card. Also, https://github.com/MiaPepsi/DeckCleaner/releases
- Ok As To My Previous Post About My New SD Card, I Now Have Virtually No Internal Storage, How Do I Reduce The Amount Of Other? is It All Shader Cache? If So How Do I Move It To The SD Card? Thanks
- How do I clear the download cache on the steam deck?
-
is the 64 gb model enough if i will use an sd card?
I use Deck cleaner when I uninstall games it removes leftover shader caches from games you have uninstalled.
-
is there a tool to automatically removed all unused files on the sd drive?
Deck Cleaner. It doesnt get rid of proton versions, that I know of, but it will scrub shader caches and proton prefix folders for games no longer installed.
- Why is internal drive almost full when there are just proton versions at about 1gb and no games? What gives?
-
How can I check what's taking so much in "other" section on my main drive?
There’s an app that will do this exact thing, only need to run it once and it’ll point all your shader caches to the current SD card that is installed, it’ll only copy the cache to the SD card if the game that needs it is on the SD card, it’s called Deck Cleaner
- This enormous 'Other' keeps growing even though I have no games internally. How do I clear it?
-
I'm losing space to updates?
This is the GitHub for it https://github.com/MiaPepsi/DeckCleaner/releases
