Screens 4 for Remote Desktop

Can't say anything about Screens 4, but maybe RustDesk is worth a look? Have used it a handful of times recently and seemed to be fine. Especially the host your own server part makes it pretty attractive IMHO.

is there any opensource "remote assistance" project ?

I recommend RustDesk, if you're looking for basic support. Its also built on Rust, as the name says.

I've recently moved to RustDesk. Not sure if it will meet your needs but may be worth checking out.
Did you still contribute to a project if your pull request wasn't merged?
1 project | reddit.com/r/opensource | 8 Oct 2021
Sometimes, the PR is not merged due to some conflicts which are hard to be solved. For example, this one https://github.com/rustdesk/rustdesk/pull/240 in my repo. The contributor has done great job, but the contributor insists overwriting old feature, I insist creating a new feature without affecting default behavior. Although the PR is not merged, but the effort is not wasted, the other developers still can use it. I also find many solutions from unmerged PRs in the other repos.
Create a desktop app in Rust using Tauri and Yew

cargo install tauri-cli doesn't work at the moment, use: cargo install tauri-cli --git https://github.com/tauri-apps/tauri2 projects | reddit.com/r/rust | 16 Jan 2022
Thanks for the tip. Using a different framework/OS might be the work around. Svelte has been the only framework used during this issue. Here is a more descriptive example of the issue. https://github.com/tauri-apps/tauri/issues/1126

Since Tauri’s inception, there have been several occasions where the tone of voice of some of us did not meet the mark of our own expectations of ourselves, and were in clear violation of our own Code of Conduct. This was even a thematic topic on Hacker News, where frustrated people shared their horrible experiences with the larger community. We are truly sorry for this, because we want to do better.

I miss something easy like this for C/C++ but we got https://github.com/tauri-apps/tauri as a much lighter electron alternative with webview for Rust. It's a start.
James Web Space Telescope runs on C++ code.

An alternative that seems promising though is using the platform's webview, although this has its own issues IME; https://github.com/tauri-apps/tauri is the most developed example of this I think, either that or maybe Microsoft's Blazor Desktop thing which afaik uses the platform's webview. Those are for Rust and C#/F# respectively though, I'm not sure how things are for C++.

Tauri – Electron alternative written in Rust
If anyone wants to know how it works:
> [leverages] WebKit on macOS, WebView2 on Windows and WebKitGTK on Linux.
So cross-platform compatibility isn't guaranteed, unlike Electron.
Yes, but this is my point.

> ...for example my somewhat simple app uses ~120MB
> But only ~5MB is the actual tauri/rust process, the rest is WebView2.
So, if 60MB is a large download, surely a simple app using 120MB of ram is pretty outrageous too?
> There is no reason why hello world UI should be 60MB.
Absolutely, but you can't have everything. Fast. Small. Doesn't use any memory. Easy to develop for. Free.
You can't have them all. So... the question isn't "is 60MB ok?"
The question is: What do you care about the most? Is it really the download size?
It's not the download size for me.

Looking at Tauri, an Electron alternative using webview, it's not great but at least it's better than bundling Chromium everywhere you go.
