Selecting PDF Text -- Any Hack?
I am not aware of such a hack. Currently you can convert a pdf page to an editable rM notebook page using my java program drawj2d. But you'd run it on your computer and upload the notebook afterwards. Drawj2d could be run on the rM tablet (it just needs an JRE for arm) but it is not of much use until we find a way to trigger a conversion. An approach (similar to skius/rm-pdf-tools) would be to have a folder (e.g. "Pdf2rm-Input") on the device and whenever you copy a pdf into it, the conversion starts. Maybe a linux specialist reading here knows how to detect a new file in the directory...

Tiny things that made me switch
I find pdf2rmnotebook simplest to use. Note that every pdf-to-lines conversion works only for the typed texts and does not work for scanned texts. In addition, since lines file does not have "fill" functionality, converted text all becomes something similar to double-strike letters.

Pages, files, notebooks - losing my mind.
To be honest, I do postings on reddit in the hope someone would write a convenient wrapper script (or even an installer) that converts multiple page pdf to a single editable rM notebook. Drawj2d converts one page ar a time (writing rM files is not the main purpose of the program) . A script could call drawj2d in a loop and put the rm files in a rmn (RCU) or zip (rMAPI) notebook archive. Someone actually has done this for Linux (pdf2rmnotebook)! Maybe anyone will do it for Windows? Then my wiki page won't matter anymore ;)

Good idea! This concept could also be used to convert pdf to rm notebooks using pdf2rmnotebook / drawj2d.

PDF/Images in Notebooks
Drawj2d. For Linux there is a tool pdf2rmnotebook based on drawj2d that converts pdf (multiple pages) in one step. Drawj2d is free software (GPL), anybody is welcome to write a convenient wrapper for Windows. Uploading the notebook to the device is another hurdle. rMAPI did the job, but at the moment it might not work due to a recent API change of the remarkable cloud storage. Unfortunately RCU (u/rmhack) does not support yet uploads of rm files...
