There's even a pre-baked "Retro NAS" project for it to run on Ras Pi's and such

I use a null modem cable to a my main PC (with a serial card) with tcpser running. It works pretty well for me for both my Apple IIe (300 baud), 486SX laptop (9600 baud), and a 200MMX late DOS rig (115200 baud). Any other modern machine capable of connecting to the net with a serial connection will do, I used to use my P4 WinXP rig as the 'bridge' for a time.

The software package is called 'tcpser'. You can use this on any machine with a serial port to turn it into a 'modem'.

Your challenge is to connect to RetroBattlestations' official BBS and post a message to join a discussion or start your own. Don't know what to say? Tell us the story of why you chose the battlestation you're using to post your message on the BBS! The BBS supports dialup, telnet, and even web access. If you need to use another computer to act as a modem, I recommend using my patched copy of tcpser which supports telnet and parity.

Another test you could do is hook your TRS-80 to a computer running tcpser instead of using your WiFi modem.
