Rethinkscape – a new UX/UI proposal for Inkscape
This is almost 7 years old, but with Inkscape 1.0 a lot of these proposals are now part of its UI. The full mockup lower down the page [1] is essentially what Inkscape looks like for me when I open it up.
This is probably a better URL as it shows the proposed changes: https://rethinkscape.netlify.app/
The README says: NOTE This was an experimentation project from ΠWEEK. Is not active anymore. All redesign proposal can be sent to Inkscape Blueprints and will be reviewed by the Inkscape team.

Firefox on the brink?
Now and then I stumble upon the USWDS (the article mentions it) and am surprised how good that thing actually is.

A design system for the federal government
Interesting LICENSE: https://github.com/uswds/uswds/blob/develop/LICENSE.md
Wonder why they decided to go with Material Icons vs building out their own icon font? That was one thing that the UK does better IMO, they have a very consistent set of iconography.
It’s quite active: https://github.com/uswds/uswds/commits/develop
I would like to note that there currently is no centralized Design System for the Dutch Government, unfortunately. All agencies are creating their own Design System based on the Rijkshuisstijl.
Currently I'm working on ROOS (https://rvo.nl/roos) which is the Design System for the Netherlands Enterprise Agency. This is build with the already mentioned NL Design System. My hope being that this will bring the different agencies together and start working on a centralized Design System for the Dutch Government and follow the excellent examples of https://design-system.service.gov.uk and https://designsystem.digital.gov/
Latest release was three weeks ago. https://github.com/uswds/uswds

I learnt a lot of Sass patterns from using the US Web Design System.

Let's talk about the truth
Recent core contributor to USWDS (https://designsystem.digital.gov/) here. IMHO, the design system is one of the better ones out there for web and application development. It falls a bit short, supporting the numerous JS frameworks, but most design systems do.
