WTF EVERNOTE??
Yes, I'm following those instructions at https://github.com/cerealkella/rest-uploader Trying to run it on windows.

OCR in Windows suggestions?
Plamola's "OCR-Joplin-Notes" extension seems to require the "rest-uploader" from cerealkella, which requires Tesseract, and that itself seems to require Poppler.

Can you tell me about your experience with JOPLIN?
I used a Scansnap IX500 to scan/OCR/send all my paper documents to Evernote. To get that working properly with Joplin, I had to setup kellerjustin's rest-uploader, but now it works flawlessly (it scans and OCRs documents to a folder on my PC, and the REST-uploader pulls new documents in that folder into Joplin).

Say bye-bye to my payments, Evernote. Can anyone suggest the best alternative?
I tell my scanner to scan to a dump folder and have task scheduler running kellerjustin's rest-uploader on my system. It monitors for new files in that folder, OCRs them, then imports them into Joplin.

I am new to Joplin and I wanted to test this plugin: https://github.com/plamola/ocr-joplin-notes

Best OCR/attachment search plugin?
I tested several 3-4 months ago and this one was the most reliable. I can’t speak for what has changed since then so YMMMV.

Thinking about Joplin, some questions and concerns
Re: OCR, no, there's nothing fully-automated, but there are solutions that are semi-automated. I've used (and contributed a bit to) this github project quite a bit and it is very capable. I originally ran into some issues OCR'ing my large library, but with the current version, it was able to OCR my library with no issues at all.
