The Grex system will be permanently shut down
You should install one of the many referrer removal addons and enable it for hacker news. For example: https://github.com/airtower-luna/referer-mod
If you're going to browse a website that's known for being full of awful tech-bros, racists, and fans of paul graham, it's usually best to avoid advertising that to the rest of the internet.
Most sites are too lazy to do anything based on referrer, but there are several sites out there that go the extra mile to put out a welcome mat to people coming from this wretched site.

Is there any alternative to the Smart Referer add-on for Firefox?
On the github issue tracker of Arkenfox user.js, there's an open issue in which one of the comments seem to claim that there's this new add-on called "Referer Modifier" which is capable of doing the same thing but to me it seems to be WIP from the looks of the github repository. I would be glad if any of you who has tried this add-on can tell me more about it and whether it is capable enough, as it is, to replace Smart Referer add-on. Apart from this, if you know about any other alternatives to Smart Referer add-on, please let me know about it in the comments. I don't have a GitHub or GitLab account to open an issue myself or join the ongoing discussions regarding the same issue which is why I thought about posting here on this subreddit.

RSS Autodiscovery
Shout-out to the Livemarks / Foxish plugins which gives you RSS support on your Bookmarks toolbar. Still nothing better IMO for quickly browsing dozens of headlines across dozens of sites.

Firefox 85 Release Notes
The thing I miss most in Firefox is the Smart Bookmarks feature they removed a while ago. Smart Bookmarks were fantastic. Add your favorite sites' RSS feeds to your bookmark toolbar and you'd have all the recent headlines from all your favorite sites at one click. Fortunately I wasn't the only one that appreciated this long neglected feature so someone created Livemarks (https://github.com/nt1m/livemarks/) that mostly replicated its functionality, but it's not quite the same as having native support for them.
