I hope someday we will see this level of development in the Chia community
dkackman made an alternate fully remote rpc cli for chia. (https://github.com/dkackman/rchia) so we start to see independent implementations. The same went for MadMax and BladeBit, now part of the official GUI Chia release. Light Wallet is here too. So things are indeed moving forward not only thanks to the constant work of ChiaInc but also thanks to the community.

How often are rewards given by chia
We are already working on implementing a pool based on official protocol because the chia team released some code (https://github.com/Chia-Network/pool-reference) our pool will be transparent (official protocol doesn't need to "steal" your private keys or to install untrusted software to work), with very low fees and transparent (every reward registered on the blockchain).
