GPS Trace Cleanup?
While there is no way to clean other people's traces up, I've made it a habit to clean up my own using https://github.com/Maproom/qmapshack/wiki - it comes with a few filters. I usually remove accumulations from taking a rest and recude point density to one every two meters.

What is the best way to pre-load offline basemaps to the watch? want to have a overall map of a general area before start. How do do this?
A free software called Qmapshack can also open the various IMG map files to see how they're displayed along with the details included. https://github.com/Maproom/qmapshack/wiki

Best software For overnight Hiking/Canoe/Portage route planning?
Ah yes, loading the maps from your Garmin GPS is sluggish at best. I believe at least on GPSMAP 64 series it was still USB one I believeā¦ So i download maps I install on my laptop and plan routes only using those, then I just have to sync the trip folder to the device, which is only few kb. As an alternative to Basecamp you could try QMapShack (open source, https://github.com/Maproom/qmapshack/wiki). I quite like it, but there is a bit of a learning curve. I started using it with quickstart options, and online maps. The advantage is that the maps will always be up to date then.

Best program/website for aggregating road/trail types
Have a look at QMapShack: https://github.com/Maproom/qmapshack/wiki You can integrate lots of different maps, offline and online. And you can set it up to create routes using the BRouter engine (lots and lots of tuneable cycling routing profiles).

Off Road Heatmap
Gravelmaps is just data file so not OS specific. To read the file, Garmin does have BaseCamp for MacOS. It's not well supported right now. An open source application is QMapShack: https://github.com/Maproom/qmapshack/wiki, it supports 64 bit linux, 64 bit windows, and MacOS X > 10.12.
