If you want to stick with python, you can have a look at https://github.com/HearthSim/python-hslog (not owned by me by the way). It matches pretty closely the internal game logs, so you'll probably have to first understand how these work.

How many times have you seen this card played? Makes me wonder why this would be qualified as a legendary
It appears there is code in the pipeline to check for case sensitivity (per this function which lowers it and removes special characters).
What are some alternatives?
