ptmv - a commandline app that plays videos and displays images
I'm working on a project ptmv, in order to improve my python skills. It can display images and play both local and youtube videos (using youtube-dl). The performance is reasonable and it uses full 8 bit colors. It's an old project I recently updated in order to refresh my python skills, so any feedback is welcome.

Try ffmpeg, that way you can get rid of opencv dependency. Check out https://github.com/seungheonoh/pot
