Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

What’s the correct way to verify Iso’s?
There are various tools like https://gtkhash.org with which you can generate the hash values of an iso file and then compare them with the hash value published by the developers of the distribution. If you want to use the terminal emulator, it depends in which hash format the checksum is published. Depending upon it one must install then for example md5sum, sha1sum or sha256sum.
- Trying to find program to check multiple hashes.
- USB boot failed
-
Problem after clean installation.
I would also recommend checking the sha256 hash of the ISO you have to make sure it matches, I like to use GTKhash: https://github.com/tristanheaven/gtkhash

Verifying Pop's iso image
Windoze is so bad it does not even have a tool to check sums. I would recommend QuickHash or GTKHash, they are GUI apps for every OS.
What are some alternatives?
komihash - Very fast, high-quality hash function, discrete-incremental and streamed hashing-capable (non-cryptographic, inline C/C++) 26GB/s + PRNG
OTPClient - Highly secure and easy to use OTP client written in C/GTK3 that supports both TOTP and HOTP
wyhash - The FASTEST QUALITY hash function, random number generators (PRNG) and hash map.
crchack - Reversing CRC for fun and profit
mersenne-twister-predictor - Predict MT19937 PRNG, from preceding 624 generated numbers. There is a specialization for the "random" of Python standard library.
OpenHashTab - 📝 File hashing and checking shell extension
cauldron - A collection of single-file C libraries. (generic containers, random number generation, argument parsing and other functionalities)
nautilus-pdf-tools - Tools to work with PDF files from Nautilus
pthash - Fast and compact minimal perfect hash functions in C++.
slope - C/Gtk+ data visualization library.
JohnTheRipper - John the Ripper jumbo - advanced offline password cracker, which supports hundreds of hash and cipher types, and runs on many operating systems, CPUs, GPUs, and even some FPGAs [Moved to: https://github.com/openwall/john]
RHash - Great utility for computing hash sums
