    Project mention: What’s the correct way to verify Iso’s? | reddit.com/r/linux4noobs | 2022-11-03

There are various tools like https://gtkhash.org with which you can generate the hash values of an iso file and then compare them with the hash value published by the developers of the distribution. If you want to use the terminal emulator, it depends in which hash format the checksum is published. Depending upon it one must install then for example md5sum, sha1sum or sha256sum.

  • crchack

Reversing CRC for fun and profit

  • ME7Sum

Checksum/CRC checker/corrector for Motronic ME7.1 firmware images. Download binaries here:

    Project mention: ECU resources | reddit.com/r/CarHacking | 2022-08-29

ME7Sum: https://github.com/nyetwurk/ME7Sum . Reads, analyzes, and fixes the complex proprietary checksum system used in old Bosch ECUs. Checksums in newer control units have mostly gotten simpler as more RAM and CPU were available and "multipoint" schemes were less necessary. Also can correct the very silly ME7.5 RSA signature system, where firmware was signed but self-checked using a public key contained... inside of the firmware. So the key could just be replaced and the firmware re-signed. Interesting read to understand the often arcane proprietary checksum routines manufacturers love to use.

  • stata-shasum

Stata wrapper for various cryptographic hashes from OpenSSL

Project mention: I need to change a column of names of variables (e.g. HC17954) to be random while ensuring that existing values receive the same new random number | reddit.com/r/stata | 2022-02-18

I use a cryptographic hashing algorithm to solve a similar problem to yours. A hash will produce the same output for the same input, but the input is not derivable from the output. A very nice person wrote a wrapper for OpenSSL for Stata, and it’s perfect for my needs.

  • ZedmeeHash

Strong, fast, simple, non-cryptographic hash function

Project mention: About record hashcode requirements | reddit.com/r/java | 2022-09-28
