  • Dlauncher: an application launcher for Linux that is based on Ulauncher
    6 projects | /r/rust | 19 May 2022
This has been a project I've been working on for a few weeks, and the reason I made this is because Ulauncher has some flaws (maybe not flaws to other people) with memory usage. Sometimes this gets very out of hand and uses up to 500MB of ram which I find unacceptable for a application launcher, so I decided to use the design files Ulauncher had and write a compatible backend in Rust. I even managed to get an extension system working (using shared object libraries), which gives you full freedom over Dlauncher. You can view the repo at https://github.com/diced/dlauncher and any feedback on the code/launcher is appreciated!
