Hello, I'm OP and there is actually an AppImage available, so you don't rely on python.

Wrote a Pokemon clone, called Pokete, for the commandline supporting: - Different Pokete types - Effectiveness of those types against each other - Attack effects - A map - NPCs to talk to (partly with complex interaction choices) - Trainers to fight against - Weather that effects the effectiveness of some attacks - Achievements - A Dex to see all caught Poketes in - Special abilities (like flying) - Natures - Side quests - A self written ASCII game engine and much more

Looks really cool and it's Python too! Interesting how all assets are string inserts unto the map [1]. Looks like a conceptually solid engine and great introduction to game dev.

Back then I tried to write a Poem on clone the same way. Because of the limitations I had, I just wrote ab ascii game engine for it. scrap_engine
