podsync
- what is the best selfhosted podcast app, where can we can convert youtub video into mp3, (with subtitle better), so we can just listen instead of watching the them.? Do have such tool?
-
vod2pod-rss: convert any youtube or twitch channel in a podcast feed, with on-the-fly mp3 conversion and streaming to your podcast client
this is not something you would host and share with everyone, as transcoding is not cheap to host, it only makes sense for personal use only, also stuff like podsync has existed for a long time, which is basically the same thing missing the transcoding.

Don't sleep on Tailscale, it is borderline magical.
Completely unrelated to Tailscale, another option is Cloudflare Tunnel. It will also traverse CGNAT and expose your Plex server to the public internet. The only limitation here is that you must have a subdomain. I have my own paid one, but I don't see why you couldn't use something like https://freedns.afraid.org/ to get a free subdomain. Cloudflare Tunnel is completely free, and it comes with free TLS too. I use it with podsync to watch YouTube using my podcasting app and make the feeds available to my friends as well (which would be more hassle if we used Tailscale).

Recommend me Youtube channels you listen with turned off screen
I'll turn them into podcasts with tools like Listenbox, YouCast, Podsync

Simple, useful apps that you self-host?
Another option is podsync
- More ads = more tracking!

Importing a YouTube channel videos feed as a podcast in PC?
If you’re technically minded you can spin up your own instance of https://github.com/mxpv/podsync - I ran one on Amazon S3 for a while until I found listenbox - but you could run on your own server too.
-
Help me remove SCREEN CULTURE from my life
If you have the expertise to do so, the best way to consume YouTube is to use PodSync to map channels to RSS feeds consumable by any standard podcast player. No algorithm, no ads, just the content you actually want to see.

Anyone successfully setup Podsync as a docker? (Turns YT videos into Podcast Feeds)

YouTube-dl fork with additional features and fixes
Obligatory reference to https://github.com/alexta69/metube which allows you to front yt-dlp with a webpage.
Already posted here how I have it as part of my stack: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=37113339

Downloading a video should be “fair use” as recording a song from the radio
I selfhost https://github.com/alexta69/metube
I have it sitting on a URL and I have an iOS share shortcut to throw any URL at it and it downloads the video.
Copy-paste from my ansible setup if you're interested, shouldn't be that hard to convert to docker-compose.

metube plugin?
Anyone want a metube plugin for swizzin? It's a youtube downloader I integrated in to swizzin. If there is interest I'll finish the installer/uninstaller. It works on docker as per the official github at https://github.com/alexta69/metube but it integrates itself in swizzin and monitors the docker container for the heartbeat. Uninstall works too.

Anyone using stashapp? Any easy youtube-dl integration...
I'm basically looking for https://github.com/stashapp/stash + https://github.com/alexta69/metube - basically you copy paste a pornhub link; it downloads a local copy and tags it away with everything from the original site.
- Is there a way to add songs to a Youtube Music playlist or library and have them automatically downloaded and added to my personal library every time it happens (to be accessed by Plex, Jellyfin, navidrome etc)?

Spot the decoy!
Was quite surprised how little it uses. I also set up a samba share to easily manage to space via Ubuntu. For plex's data store /media location. https://youtu.be/675p5fuEQa4 (this is a bit of a pain in the arse but it does work) Also a fun one is metube https://github.com/alexta69/metube I set it to MP4 and best , honestly it's so easy wack a link in give it a few watch yt in bed via plex without adverts.

[Docker] Problems mounting a folder from the host OS (a mounted Samba share) for use in a Docker container (metube)
I am trying to set up metube in a Docker container using Portainer. Specifically, I'm creating a new Stack in Portainer and copy/pasting in the Compose file from the GitHub page. First, like a noob, I left the volumes as /path/to/downloads and it indeed created a folder like that on the main drive of my Ubuntu server which runs Docker. I then changed it to my user's home with /downloads at the end. All that works fine.

MeTube - Possible to rearrange/sort Downloading table?
I am adding a YouTube Playlist to MeTube and it downloads the videos as I want. But the "Downloading" list is sorted, so that the currently downloading song is at the bottom of the list. I'd love to add a playlist and at the top, on page load, see, what's currently downloading. Does anybody know, if this is possible? Sorting the playlist, so that the currently downloading is at the top.
What are some alternatives?
