plugin.video.themoviedb.helper VS umbrellaplug

Might be a good question to ask jurialmunkey as that is one of the few players that comes with TMDB-Helper.

1) Use a [fork]. (https://github.com/jurialmunkey/plugin.video.themoviedb.helper) Before TMDb Helper, the standard was OpenMeta and that was just a fork of MetalliQ. As long as there are active developers in the community, someone will likely pick up the project.

Wish I could help, but I don't use trakt so don't have any first hand knowledge. I would have assumed you just needed TMDB-Helper to be synced to your trakt account since it's just the meta information that gets marked as watched, not the player add-on. You could try asking on the developer's github.

While I was trying your solution I was browsing the TMBD helper github and saw someone made a similar request last June here.
