Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

As a server admin what are some sticking points that make getting a server off the ground hard?
That was the reason i created pluGET which is a plugin updater written in python. If you don't like to update your plugins automatically then you can only check for available updates and it will spit out a list of plugins which have a newer version available and you can update them manually by hand

Technically yes, I did just manually update my plugins a few days ago. However, there is this new project called pluGET which has made some good advancements in automation.
