I'm trying to run this using python for the first time for the occasion and I encountered this error

You could open mpv quicker in command line or terminal if you added it to PATH. It's also required for extensions like play-with-mpv

When i run sudo apt install ffmpeg, it says i already have the most recent version of FFMPEG installed. But i know FFMPEG is already on version 4.4. How do i solve these issues? I got this MPV PPA from installing the Play With MPV chrome extention from here: https://github.com/Thann/play-with-mpv

Hi, it's me again, the guy wanting to enable hardware acceleration for video playblack on web browsers. All of that led me to a deep rabbit hole about how Linux lacks support for GPU acceleration for things like YouTube. After discovering Gnome Web + Gstream plugins doesn't fully offload the decoding to the GPU, i gave up and tried to install the Play With MPV chrome extention on my Google Chrome. I'm also thinking about adding twscrape support to my https://github.com/mushroomlabs/fediverser and extend its mirrors to Mastodon servers, but to be honest I can not afford (money- and time-wise) to get into yet-another project without at some minimal financial support.

It has been far from a stalemate. Reddit has won this battle, but the war is not over.

Saying that as someone been dedicating full-time since September to a project to help people migrate from Reddit to Lemmy [0], the truth is that there is simply no alternative yet for all the niche communities that are established there.

About a month ago, I posted here [1] about my project to try to make it easier to sign up and automatically discover/subscribe the Lemmy communities [2], but I wasn't expecting to have such a long tail of communities that need to be mapped out. The ~150 users that signed up to alien.top led to a discovery of about 6000 different subreddits.

I was doing the work of curation and creating alternative communities by hand, but I realized that was going to be an endless task. This is why I started working on a crowdsourced solution [3], which I launched last Friday

I see https://github.com/mushroomlabs/fediverser/issues/9 but I would be much more likely to use it if the oauth2 dance didn't ask for aggressive perms versus a "ask for all the perms then revoke them later"

This coming week I'm planning to work on the part that lets you connect your reddit account to a respective Lemmy instance and migrate your posts. Would you like to try it out?
