Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

C++ backend with React.js frontend
A coworker at my last job used pistache.io as a web back-end framework for C++ to good effect. I have no idea if it's the best, or even good, but I know that he made a project with it that I was calling into (I was building the front-end) and it worked.

I'm not sure what to study now ):
There are some C++ API frameworks like Pistache or Restbed (full list here) to get started. If I should be 100% honest, I don't think C++ is worth for APIs as we have easier solutions with the same performance nowadays (like Go and Rust), but I think we should try everything, right?

cpprestsdk in maintenance mode
If you need an embedded C++ HTTP server then there are plenty of libraries/frameworks (in random order): Crow, RESTinio, Boost.Beast, cpp-httplib, http_backend, Pistache, RestBed, served, proxygen, Simple-Web-Server, drogon, oat++.

REST APIs using C++. (Is this even done much?)
RESTinCurl: Wrapper over libcurl for projects not using boost/asio, typically for Android and IOS use-cases (but I have used it in servers as well). Besides wrapping the library, it also contains the code to handle asynchronous operations with libcurl.

How to convert libcurl to C++?
You can take a look at restincurl, which is a simple C++ wrapper around curl ;)

is a good option programing with NDK for android?
1) A C++ library compiled with the NDK with a Java wrapper and the UI written in Java/Kotlin. This was doable for this project because the project was huge with good funding and multiple teams working on the various components. I was responsible for the C++ part. The C++ library was also used in a iPhone app, and that was actually much more work (I had to write an Objective C layer) than on Android. During this project I wrote about how I ended up making a usable JNI wrapper. I also created two new Open Source projects to facilitate logging and using libcurl conveniently from C++ in mobile apps.
What are some alternatives?
Crow - Crow is very fast and easy to use C++ micro web framework (inspired by Python Flask)
Oat++ - 🌱Light and powerful C++ web framework for highly scalable and resource-efficient web application. It's zero-dependency and easy-portable.
lithium - Easy to use C++17 HTTP Server with no compromise on performances. https://matt-42.github.io/lithium
Restbed - Corvusoft's Restbed framework brings asynchronous RESTful functionality to C++14 applications.
yahat-cpp - Yet Another Http API Thing - A trivial HTTP server for simple REST API's in C++ projects
drogon - Drogon: A C++14/17 based HTTP web application framework running on Linux/macOS/Unix/Windows [Moved to: https://github.com/drogonframework/drogon]
C++ REST SDK - The C++ REST SDK is a Microsoft project for cloud-based client-server communication in native code using a modern asynchronous C++ API design. This project aims to help C++ developers connect to and interact with services.
Civetweb - Embedded C/C++ web server
Crow - A Fast and Easy to use microframework for the web.
