pi400kb VS BlueRetro

It's not easy (see this GitHub repository for a 400 HID example and this Pi 4 MagPi article for a network example) and NOT just plug and play.

Mirroring laptop + using the Pi400 as keyboard: thanks to Pi400kb, I can pretty much run Windows with some Linux benefits. It may be considered a silly setup because the Pi becomes a glorified and ore expensive keyboard for the laptop, but I have the advantage of a more stable setup. The Pi can also still run headless tasks via cron, so it's not totally useless.

I'm currently working on getting Kali Linux installed and working on my Pi400 with an adafruit screen attached to the GPIO port. It's a convenient size for hand-carrying, and with the screen disconnected it could pass (to the casual observer) as a simple compact keyboard. Especially when paired with the pi400kb "driver" [1]

That it'll run off of a USB battery pack for quite some time is an added bonus. It's obviously not as powerful as a dedicated laptop but as a "cyberdeck" or an incognito penetration test device, I think it'll find a place of regular usage in my life.

I do plan to do an internal BlueRetro mod at some point (so I'll be able to connect controllers without dongles) but I'm waiting til this issue is hopefully fixed.

This issue is documented on the BlueRetro github, where it is the 5th-oldest reported bug, as well as by far the most commented. This issue has been known for at least a year and a half. Will's Console Modifications used to have this bug listed on the UnoRetro page, but they removed it - even though the bug still hasn't been fixed - which means you have to use the Internet Wayback Machine to verify on an old version of their website that they knew about it.

The official BlueRetro docs have great instruction on how to install the code and pair controllers, but for internal installs I'd recommend nostalgic-influences wiring diagram.png) if you're like me and have trouble reading electrical schematics.
