Maybe some people did know about these bad Perl programming practices, but I did not, so I am sharing for fellow beginners
And some more subjective ones: * It seems mostly about converting from practices seen in very old code. like indirect object syntax and symbolic references. * It closes some sections with recommended modules rather than leading with them. * It does not lead with code and style references that are now part of the perl core documentation. * The github repo source for the page was updated last 8 years ago: https://github.com/shlomif/perl-begin/tree/master/lib/tutorials/bad-elements

Hypothesis: The Ancient Hebrew Verb "Lenabé" (לנבא) originally meant "to be crazy"/"to act crazy" including in today's casual sense
Well, Plato considered craziness as divine (but excluded humour for example): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Divine_madness . Later on, navi was mistranslated by the Septuaginte as "prophet", which also influenced later Jewish thought. Anyway, insane people at the time were likely used as sources of guidance and advice (see a WiP essay I wrote about that and "a navi" (נביא) was also a philosopher, educator, and entertainer (like the image macro based on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GoZ3bu23BMA jokes about).
