The number of mentions indicates the total number of mentions that we've tracked plus the number of user suggested alternatives.

I use something similar, called org-remark. By the description of both, they seem to share functionalities. Just mentioning it for visibility :)

The continuation of emacs in the mobile-age?
I use https://github.com/yuchen-lea/org-media-note (with some modifications) all the time for taking notes on audio/video files, inserting timestamps, and controlling playback via Emacs. So something like EMMS, for example, is indeed very useful for generating data.
