Packages that you would like to be in emacs core ?
Also Org-ql, maybe with some sort merging with org-agenda (Because writing configurations of org-agenda is a PITA, too.)
-
how to search for all .org files in a directory structure that have a specific tag in a directory structure?
I don't know about pure org, but you could try org-ql. Check org-ql-find-in-org-directory.

Agenda blocks filtered by category

org-SUPER-sparse-tree?
I don't use it, but you may want to take a look at org-ql, specifically the org-ql-search command, which does something similar. It may or may not be what you want.
-
Org-Capture Journal - is there a better way to search?
org-ql-find/org-ql-search (from org-ql) work nicely even with datetrees.

-
How do you combine org with LaTeX?
It can be arbitrary LaTeX. As the link states "Environments of any kind". You can also type C-c C-x C-l to render the LaTeX fragments as inline images (for example, see demo gif in https://github.com/io12/org-fragtog).
-
Is it possible to hide "\begin{equation}" as org-hide-emphasis-markers does for bold or italics?
This feature is provided by org-appear . For latex fragments, the package providing the same feature is org-fragtog
-
Preview LaTeX equations on *.tex files
I mean, what I'm looking for is something like this but while I am editing an *.tex file. I have tried the texfrag package, but it doesn't seem to work or I'm too stupid to set it up. Can someone explain to me how can this be achieved?
-
