operator VS cluster-template

minio has a k8 operator as well which I use at work: https://github.com/minio/operator

So far I have seen some minio documentation (1, 2, ) about how to add the certificates correctly but I haven't been able to set it up correctly :-(

Yesterday, I tried to install MinIO, as I'm looking for a distributed object storage solution for Spark jobs on Kubernetes. I read the docs, went to the Github repo and followed the steps to install it using Helm. Here's what I did :

Thank you! I assume you refer to this operator here, am I right? I will have a look at this, and also at the annotations possibility. Another question: is it deliberate that no Helm install is available?

k8s is a lot easier for homelabs than it used to be, and imo it's quicker than nix for building a declarative homelab. templates like this one can deploy a cluster in a few hours: https://github.com/onedr0p/cluster-template

I deliberately nuked my onprem cluster a few weeks ago, and was fully restored within 2 hours (including host OS reinstalls). and most of that was waiting for backup restores over my slow internet connection

Magical setups like this often get a lot of bad rap, but if you already understand Ansible and know Linux etc, you might find this repo a good start to building out your own cluster using gitops: https://github.com/onedr0p/flux-cluster-template
