OpenMediaVault VS NextCloudPi

Compare OpenMediaVault vs NextCloudPi and see what are their differences.

openmediavault is the next generation network attached storage (NAS) solution based on Debian Linux. It contains services like SSH, (S)FTP, SMB/CIFS, DAAP media server, RSync, BitTorrent client and many more. Thanks to the modular design of the framework it can be enhanced via plugins. OpenMediaVault is primarily designed to be used in home environments or small home offices, but is not limited to those scenarios. It is a simple and easy to use out-of-the-box solution that will allow everyone to install and administrate a Network Attached Storage without deeper knowledge. (by openmediavault)

  • (HELP) Setting up NextCloud on a Raspberry Pi

Just installed on my pi today, If I knew what I was doing I would use docker, but at the same time, I don't want my bad docker skills to make me end up losing my files. I downloaded mine from the github.

Nextcloud is functionally similar to Dropbox, Office 365 or Google Drive but is self-hosted so you are in control of your data. This version is a lightly-forked version of NextCloudPi, which was developed for SBCs like the Raspberry Pi. Only a few changes from upstream and some SysV initscripts were required to get this working nicely in Linux Deploy.
  • Raspberry Pi Encryption

About installing the instance, I recommend using Docker (in particular, use docker-compose.yaml files instead of running docker commands) - an all-in-one setup is available by using Docker -> - a lighter all-in-one with only Nextcloud and features to make it available online -> - if you want Nextcloud only locally -> (this is a good example of what you can put inside a docker-compose.yaml file)
