Is there a tutorial for making a CAD tool with Three.js?
For proper CAD in browser, you'd need something like opencascadejs. I've integrated it to Polygonjs, here is an example scene, and a video intro
- Fornjot: A next-generation Code-CAD application
- Opencascade.js:Port of the OpenCascade Library to JavaScript/WebAssembly
- GitHub - donalffons/opencascade.js: Port of the OpenCascade library to JavaScript / WebAssembly using Emscripten
- Opencascade.js – Port of OpenCascade 3D CAD Kernel to JavaScript / WASM
-
CadQuery –- A Python parametric CAD scripting framework based on OCCT
That confirms the impression I had, I guess they are just so complex that building a new open source one from scratch would be Herculean effort. Guess OCCT is the only option for now.
The itch I would love to scratch is an online real-time collaborative parametric cad app using CRTDs. Current thinking is combining OpenCascade compiled to WASM [0] with Yjs[1], but frankly don’t have the time.

Hey Rustaceans! Got an easy question? Ask here (45/2021)!
Can I access a library that is compiled to WASM (e.g. openCascade.js) directly from a rust client web app that runs in the browser? The library is lgpl so I'd want to "dynamically link" to it.

Tips for getting people to use my crate
A friend and I wrote a simple crate. It's an archiving format that we came up with to package assets for games written in Rust. So far it's dormant and only gets attention from the two of us. I wanted to have people check it out and maybe even use it in their projects. The crate acts as an alternative for stuff like zip, tar and rar, so it's not groundbreaking in any way. Still, I wanted to get some eyes on the project and maybe even some feedback. Any tips on how I can achieve this? Thx for any help.

I need some help with my repo, I don't know if it's buggy or what
Your change definitely aren't there as when I compare: https://github.com/sokorototo/vach/tree/main/vach-cli to https://github.com/zeskeertwee/vach/tree/main/vach-cli

Hey Rustaceans! Got an easy question? Ask here (45/2021)!
I am working on a custom archive format (repo), so I could distribute assets with my games in a single package with support for compression, encryption and other stuff ( shameless plug? give or take ). I was thinking if I should make the archive writer multithreaded. It isn't slow, but I haven't compared it to other popular formats like zip, tar or rar.
What are some alternatives?
rust - Empowering everyone to build reliable and efficient software.
vach - A simple archiving format, designed for storing assets in compact and secure containers
Kind - A next-gen functional language [Moved to: https://github.com/Kindelia/Kind2]
rustyline - Readline Implementation in Rust
EngrCAD
unicode-security - Detect possible security problems with Unicode usage according to Unicode Technical Standard #39 rules.
CQ-editor - CadQuery GUI editor based on PyQT
reedline - A feature-rich line editor - powering Nushell
truck - Truck is a Rust CAD Kernel.
nbt-rust - NBT Format
fornjot - Early-stage b-rep CAD kernel, written in the Rust programming language.
