  • AI + CV for first semester, how crazy am I?

Or if you have to take 2 classes, go to omshub.org and pick an "easy" class for class number 2.
  • Guys who decided to study full-time, how easy did you find a job after doing so?
    1 project | /r/OMSCS | 10 Jul 2023
You're perfectly capable of taking 2 classes, but if it's your first time in the program, consider doing1 class you first semester. GaTech isn't an easy checkbox masters, but rather a rigorous one. It has a lot of benefits, but the biggest expense of the program is time. I would take 1 class the first semester so you can get an A or B, and gauge how much you have to study versus others on omshub.org or similar.
  • Why are most courses on OMSCS Central rated below 4 given the popularity of program?
    1 project | /r/OMSCS | 30 Jun 2023
We used the same baseline reference data set on launching of OMSHub, and per cursory review, that is mainly what I observed when reviewing the data at that time. Anecdotally, things like the very first review here (click View raw to display in browser) occurred sparsely, but otherwise besides some light redaction to that effect, the data set was largely unperturbed "post-fallout" (i.e., not substantially enough to make appreciable changes to overall ratings, etc.).
  • Breakdown of courses that are more or less practical or theory based?
    2 projects | /r/OMSCS | 10 Mar 2023
You could always suggest to the omshub.org people to add a programming language filter or tag to their page. I think splitting classes between writing and projects might be tricky since this is a graduate program.
  • UT MSCSO or GT OMSCS, wash out rate and support?
    1 project | /r/MSCSO | 7 Mar 2023
I see. I've been doing research (both on reddit boards and looking at omshub.org and https://mscshub.com), and I definitely see the Texas veers towards the math/theoretical while GT is more applied.
  • re. not liking CS 6035 Intro to Info Security after one project
    1 project | /r/OMSCS | 25 Jan 2023
I went into more depth in my review on OMSHub, including qualifying my background for corresponding "level-setting/benchmarking" (second-most-recent review, for Fall 2022, reviewed 2023-01-04); which made me realize in the process, we need to create a view for a single review in OMSHub to make it directly linkable for this type of purpose (added GitHub issue already to the backlog when I realized this recently :D )
  • What classes would you recommend to someone who didn’t get a bs in cs to have a more well rounded foundation?

We considered Firebase at the outset but it was eschewed in favor of Go at the time, but on subsequent second-pass, said MSCSO admin made a pretty compelling case for Firebase based on their reported little-to-no operating cost. So, at that point, I took a chance and ditched attempt #3 (Node/Express) in favor of doing Firebase, even though no-SQL/non-relational isn't really my wheelhouse...
  • OMSHub Site: Update
    1 project | /r/OMSCS | 8 Aug 2022
Nah, I agree (and so does the other dev lol), in hindsight, this was a bad case of projection, I think---I've stared at this course codes for so long at this point, between scoping out courses and putting the site together (e.g., doing data parsing along the way), that I know more or less where the main courses I'm interested "live" lol...This one got me shook enough that the PR is up already :D (should be live on the site soon-ish, after review...if it fails review, that will be sad; it was a one-liner, I literally "had one job")
