Best OCR/attachment search plugin?
I tested several 3-4 months ago and this one was the most reliable. I can’t speak for what has changed since then so YMMMV.

Thinking about Joplin, some questions and concerns
Re: OCR, no, there's nothing fully-automated, but there are solutions that are semi-automated. I've used (and contributed a bit to) this github project quite a bit and it is very capable. I originally ran into some issues OCR'ing my large library, but with the current version, it was able to OCR my library with no issues at all.

Plamola's "OCR-Joplin-Notes" extension seems to require the "rest-uploader" from cerealkella, which requires Tesseract, and that itself seems to require Poppler.

Hello - after installing tesseract on windows from here: https://github.com/UB-Mannheim/tesseract/wiki the script now works fine
