Running a private mail server for six years, easy peasy
I’ve been using this https://github.com/r-raymond/nixos-mailserver for 4 years for my personal mail and I haven’t had a single issue in that time. I think it takes me about the same amount of time as you to maintain but I also have a next cloud server running on the same machine.

FYI You shouldn't really be using procmail for sorting see the notice at the top of this page. Dovecot has built in seive functionality witch you can use this desktop GUI to manage.

use mailsieve scripts, they are amazing. Checkout sieve originally just a thunderbird addon but you can install it as a desktop app, hosted web application or build your own docker container.
