Roundcube Open-Source Webmail Software Merges with Nextcloud
Also forget about the automatic upload feature in the Android client, I switched to FolderSync for a reliable experience.
I've managed to get OnlyOffice working, Collabora Office previously broke for some reason. However latest upgrade also broke OnlyOffice. The solution for this is to put the secret and authorization headers into config.php in addition to the OnlyOffice plugin settings. [2] No idea why, but that is a thing.
My Nextcloud runs as a normal PHP application and I haven't had any issues with upgrading yet. Going from, I think, version 23 on Debian 11 to 27.1 now on a different machine running Debian 12 since I started using it.
Maybe I should find something more focused on file syncing, but the all-in-one approach of Nextcloud and its various plugins makes trying some new services very easy.

Cloudflare Proxied vs DNS Only for Nextcloud
While reading this article, they were suggesting to modify the maxChunkSize in the Desktop client app configs, problem is, I've had this problem also on mobile... so that's not the solution I need.
-
Where are the full logs?
I've added a link to this at https://github.com/nextcloud/desktop/issues/3912 which appears to be the right ID tracking it, and from what others have said this appears to be isolated to using the Virtual Files feature.
- Windows VirtualFiles sync broken again?
- Multiple Cloudflare security events from China/Russia/Tor, should I be worried?
- Updated NC to 26.0.1. Cron job not running anymore plus error syncen Invalid modification time

Office file locking not working
I know about this thread. If you look at the pull request that closes this, you see that this implements support in the clients for manual locking using the file_lock app. File locking like in a remote file system is probably not possible using a sync client (see this comment for example).

Nextcloud Desktop 3.8: End-to-End Encryption levels up with sharing
Nextcloud has had too many longstanding bugs like the one that mangles metadata, breaks sync, and requires server side intervention to fix [1]. I don’t trust them to do normal sync anymore. There’s no way I’d take the risk of letting them encrypt my data.
They need to slow down on features before tech debt ruins their product (if it hasn’t already).

Mounting data via `cifs` and how to avoid conflicts
Very regularly I get conflicts, right after editing a file. I found others having issues such as this Github issue and I tried some of the suggestions but so far none of them helped.

What's the most pratical solution for someone who wants to use Linux as their primary OS but often has to deal with Windows-exclusive software and services?
onedriver is a native Linux filesystem for Microsoft OneDrive: - https://github.com/jstaf/onedriver

Using MS OneDrive(r) on Debian 12 -- but .deb packages only for Deb 10/11
Alternatively, I read good things about https://github.com/jstaf/onedriver which can download only the files that I need at times instead of the whole account, but looking at the install methods on debian, there's only information regarding Debain 10 and 11 installs. For example, I can install .deb packagaes here, but again only refers to deb 10/11.

Linux for Star Citizen
When you get to it - there are only 5 reliable ways to access OneDrive on Linux/Unix platforms: * Via the OneDrive Client for Linux - https://github.com/abraunegg/onedrive - this 'syncs' your data, bi-directional operation, open source and free. Supports Personal, Business & SharePoint account types and Shared Folders. A Docker container is also available for all major architectures (x86_64, ARMHF, AARCH64). If you need a GUI for onedrive client management use: https://github.com/bpozdena/OneDriveGUI * Via the 'onedriver' client - https://github.com/jstaf/onedriver - Native file system that only provides the OneDrive 'on-demand' functionality, open source and free. Supports Personal, Business account types. Currently does not support Shared Folders or SharePoint. * Via 'rclone' - https://rclone.org/ - one way sync client, open source and free. Has limitations with SharePoint. * Via non-free clients such as 'insync', 'ExpanDrive' * Via the web browser of your choice

It's time to give up on LibreOffice - integrate web based office suites directly into Ubuntu instead
There are OneDrive clients for Linux already, e.g. https://github.com/abraunegg/onedrive or https://github.com/jstaf/onedriver.

Windows to Linux migration help
Take a look at OneDriver. Its a decent OneDrive client for Linux and works really well! It should pair up nicely with LibreOffice, which is a Microsoft Office alternative that is preinstalled on most Distros. Don’t worry, Google Drive also works (honesty not as good as OneDriver). most distros should allow your to “connect to online accounts,” which should allow you to sign in with your g account.
- I'm thinking about switching to linux and I need some advise.
