Looking for a guitar vst/plug in recommendations that allow me to compose with midi
The Neural Amp Modeller I'm talking about is a VST plugin. You don't really need it with the Helix, which looks awesome, but it's just a neat thing that exists. https://github.com/sdatkinson/neural-amp-modeler

Focusrite Scarlett 2I2 vs Apogee JamX
Also, don't just blindly get something because Tim is using it. If you do go the plugin route, look into other cheaper plugins if you're on a budget like ML Sound Labs amp collection or even the free route with NAM. With all of these, you could get a sound like Tim. I kind of regret my purchase of Archetype Tim Henson because it is not nearly as versatile as something like Archetype Nolly, which I use all the time. I could get Tim Henson's tone on most plugins/amps, it's really simple.
- hay never post on here but i came here for a question. does any one have any good digital amp simulators that they would recommend thanks :)

Can't Get Any Plugin To Sound Decent
Try Neural Amp Modeler. It is free and sound very accurate. For fun I modeled one of my Boss Katana 50 MKII presets and it was hard to say when I was playing via NAM vs Katana. For ready presets, take a look here: tonehunt.org.

A Low Latency Guitar Effects Processor Suitable for Running on a Raspberry Pi
This is awesome. I'd be really interested to find out if a Raspberry Pi can run an open source amp modeler like NAM (https://github.com/sdatkinson/neural-amp-modeler).

A Low Latency Guitar Effects Processor Suitable for Running on a Raspberry Pi
Surface mount soldering is not too hard. I can't view the BoM on mobile, but from the photos the soldering looks achievable for someone with experience soldering through hole. Take a look at the document here https://github.com/monome/norns-shield/tree/main/bom - if it's mostly 0805 sized components you should be fine. Even a few 0603 would be okay if you have good vision and a steady hand.

Norns Shield BOM?????

(WTB) Looking for a Norns Shield build set or help on where to get components
The pcb is available at pusherman. The important parts are in stock at mouser, here's the BOM. The audio codec was hard to find for a long time, but it's available at the moment. I think you would need to substitute a capacitor or two. Monome's github has a lot of good information (e.g., schematic) and here is some helpful information on assembly. There are tons of helpful people on lines.

Keep typing and... ??? [Modular Synth + r/MK = Jack. macropad w/ modular rotary encoders]
for an example - you may want to look at the open source synth project that our friends over at monome did a while back .. github repo, docs, BOMs, etc are here .. but that's a full featured synth programmable / customizable with lua on a rpi with a CS4270 DAC - quite a few musicians involved in that community .. fun project

Just finished building the Norns shield from scratch
I used the bom and the markings on the pcb. The mechanical parts are described on their github : https://github.com/monome/norns-shield
